Canadian fuel cells going to Germany
Daimler will outfit its hydrogen fleet in Germany with fuel cells produced in British Columbia, the company has announced. Germany Trade & Invest is holding an investor event today in Vancouver to highlight business opportunities for international companies in Germany’s budding fuel cell industry.
“Germany’s economy is booming and the fuel cell industry is on the verge of a major breakthrough,” said Dr. Juergen Friedrich, chief executive of Germany Trade & Invest.
Daimler has created a subsidiary, called the Automotive Fuel Cell Cooperation (AFCC), in a joint venture with Ford and Ballard Power Systems. AFCC will make fuel cells for the B-Class F-Cell and Citaro FuelCell Hybrid city bus at its site in Burnaby, B.C.
