Tata Motors is displaying a fuel cell bus at the Auto Expo 2012, which runs from 7th to 11th January in New Delhi, India.

The company has revealed that is working on three new alternative fuel concepts: a Tato Nano that runs on compressed natural gas (CNG), a Tata Indigo Manza diesel-electric hybrid, and the Tata Starbus Fuel Cell (hydrogen). The Tata Motors portfolio already includes a full electric vehicle, the Tata Indica Vista Electric Vehicle, and CNG-electric hybrid buses.

The Starbus has a hydrogen fuel cell with gross peak power of 114 HP, coupled with an electric motor with peak output of 250 HP; top speed of the bus is 70 km/h. The company says it is ideally suited to urban public transport. It has been developed with support from the Indian Government's Department of Scientific and Industrial Research under the Technology Development & Demonstration Programme.
