Blainville's Xebec Adsorption Inc., a developer of purification products for the clean energy market, said Thursday it has signed a licence and engineering services pact worth $3.25 million U.S. with Nuvera Fuel Cells, an international developer of fuel cell systems and fuel processors, with offices in the United States and Europe.

Xebec said the contract will speed development of purification units for use in hydrogen refuelling and other applications. It will receive a $1.75 million U.S. up-front payment from Nuvera.

"We're strengthing our partnership with Nuvera because of its focus on commercialization of key hydrogen energy technologies," Xebec CEO Kurt Sorschak said in a statement.

The company also announced the departure of chief financial officer Ginette Gagné. Corporate comptroller Lyne Routhier will take over as CFO on an interim basis.
