Fresh off a sale of 154 fuel cell power units to Indonesia, the CEO of Bend's based Ida Tech see big growth in the future: “We do see a very robust market for fuel cells. There are two initial markets we see actually and we have staked out one. That is on site or stationary power for critical applications for telecommunications and emergency communications.” Hal Koyama says it costs anywhere from $1000 to $5000 per kilowatt for reliable back up power. Typically Ida Tech sells a five-kilowatt fuel cell, which is enough to power a conventional home. Fuel cell's make electricity from hydrogen with no emissions. Ida Tech employs 90 people at the headquarters and research and development will be expanded with growth in the industry.
