Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited Wins $6 Million German Market Contract
Australian clean energy developer, Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited (CFCL) has won a conditional contract for their energy-efficient power generation units, worth more than A$6 million.
Ceramic Fuel Cells is a leading developer of high efficiency, low emission electricity generation units for homes and other buildings. Its presence has been growing in the German market.
CFCL received the order for up to 200 integrated power and heat generators from German energy service provider EWE.
The company expects to generate revenue of up to 4.9 million Euros (approximately A$6.5 million) over two years.
The integrated units use patented technology to convert natural gas into electricity and heat, and have the world’s highest level of electrical efficiency.
EWE will install the units in homes in the Lower Saxony region in northern Germany, and the units will provide low emission electricity, hot water and heating.
The order is conditional on EWE receiving partial funding under the German government’s national hydrogen and fuel cell technology innovation program. The program is worth 700 million Euros (A$932 million) and runs between 2008 and 2018. A decision on funding is expected early in the New Year.
Subject to EWE obtaining the government funding – and the units meeting agreed performance targets – EWE will order 70 units for delivery in 2011 and 130 units for delivery in 2012.
CFCL recently won the Innovation Investors Award from the North Rhine Westfalen Government for its technological excellence and is a great example of how Australian cleantech companies are succeeding in Europe.
Austrade welcomes the chance to talk to other Australian cleantech companies about the wealth of market opportunities in Europe and how we can assist Australian business to succeed.
