AFC Energy appoints MD

AFC Energy manufacturing director Edward Wilson has been promoted to MD.

He will lead the firm in its next stage of development, as it moves towards commercialisation of its fuel cell technology.

Ian Balchin has moved from CEO to deputy chairman with particular responsibility for future strategic direction of the company.

Wilson joined AFC Energy in September from his previous position as CEO at WSP CEL (formerly CEL International), an engineering consultancy and project management business.

Chairman Tim Yeo said: "We have technology with proven fundamentals and a huge potential market.

"As we move towards commercialisation of our industry leading fuel cell technology I am delighted that we will have Ed with his wealth of experience within the industries of manufacturing, engineering and advanced materials technology leading the group."
